Brand building as entertainment
Before Baristas, Seattle’s bikini-barista format existed largely as a local anomaly. Baristas transformed its tamer “Costume Coffee” interpretation into a recognizable, scalable consumer brand, combining costumed service with coffee, merchandise, disciplined branding and locations across five states.
Grounded in Seattle brought the people and business behind the stands to television. Together, the company’s expansion and national media exposure helped move the concept beyond a regional curiosity and popularize it in the mainstream.
